The article presents an attempt of deconstructing a Vietnamese spirit medium as a function of the Mother Religion in order to analyze it as a discursive subject, informed into varies ritual practices that involve non-human agency. The research is based on a discourse-analytical model by Potter and Wetherell, developed for studying socio-psychological functions of the discourse and the ways people perform discursive acts to construct their own identities and to use them for achieving their speech tasks. The analysis of in-depth interviews with a practicing medium reveals a number of interpretative repertoires that are built around key lexicalizations, explaining different aspects of medium’s experience and allowing to find out which social functions are related to the application of chosen discursive resources.

В статье сделана попытка деконструкции образа медиума как институциональной функции Культа Матерей с целью представить его как тип дискурсивного субъекта, включённого в широкий спектр практик работы с нечеловеческой агентностью во вьетнамском обществе. Исследование выполнено на базе дискурс-аналитической модели Поттера и Уэтерелл, разработанной для изучения социально-психологических функций дискурса и тех действий, которые люди производят с его помощью, конструируя свои идентичности и используя их как ресурсы для своих речевых задач. Статья написана на материалах глубинного интервью с медиумом. Выделенные интерпретативные репертуары респондента строятся на нескольких ключевых лексикализациях, дающих обоснование различным аспектам опыта медиума и позволяющих выявить некоторые социальные функции применения именно этих дискурсивных ресурсов.
