The article analyzes the process and effectiveness of the PRC's use of ethnic Chinese living in Vietnam as a tool of hybrid warfare against Vietnam in 1978–1979. Turning to the history of the Chinese community, the author concludes that by the end of the 1970s, most Huaqiao were sufficiently assimilated and saw themselves as part of a society that had chosen the path of building socialism. The main events of the operation “Nanqiao” (organizing the departure of ethnic to the territory of the PRC) are considered. It is noted that Beijing achieved limited results by failing to destabilize the domestic political situation in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam before the start of a direct military clash on February 17, 1979. The paper presents little-known information about the participation of collaborators among the Huaqiao in the fighting on the side of China. The research is based on memoirs and eyewitness accounts of the events in question, travel essays by Soviet journalists, materials from the Russian periodical press, and documents from the State Archive of the Russian Federation.
В статье анализируется ситуация с этническими китайцами, проживавшими в СРВ, в период резкого обострения китайско-вьетнамских отношений в 1978–1979 гг. Обращаясь к истории китайской общины во Вьетнаме автор приходит к заключению, что к концу 1970-х гг. большинство хуацяо были в достаточной степени ассимилированы и видели себя в качестве части социума, выбравшего путь построения социализма. Рассмотрены основные события операции «Наньцяо» по организации отъезда этнических китайцев на территорию КНР, при этом отмечено, что Пекин не сумел достичь желаемого результата и дестабилизировать внутриполитическую ситуацию в СРВ перед началом прямого военного столкновения в феврале 1979 г. В работе представлены малоизвестные сведения об участии коллаборационистов из числа хуацяо в боевых действиях на стороне Китая. Исследование базируется на мемуарах и свидетельствах очевидцев рассматриваемых событий, путевых очерках советских журналистов, материалах отечественной периодической печати, документах Государственного архива Российской Федерации.
