The article analyzes the work of the poet of the XVIII century. Nguyen Tong Quai. Attention is drawn to the fact that in Vietnam, only after the proclamation of the policy of renewal, they began to actively study and appreciate his literary legacy, although even during the poet's lifetime, his contemporaries gave extremely positive reviews of his poems. The article reveals the reasons why for a long time Nguyen Tong Quai was in the shadow of more famous poets. The poetic traditions followed by Nguyen Tong Quai are noted. The author considers the merits of the poet, which contributed to the development of Vietnamese literature during his lifetime and in subsequent times. His contribution to the establishment of the national spirit in Vietnamese literature is appreciated through works written in Vietnamese chữ Nôm using the traditional Vietnamese poetic form of lukbat (lục bát). Translations of the so-called "embassy poems" and poems on the historical theme of Nguyen Tong Quai are given.
В статье рассматривается творчество вьетнамского поэта XVIII в. Нгуен Тонг Куая. Отмечено, что его литературное наследие стали активно изучать и высоко оценивать только после провозглашения в стране политики обновления, хотя еще при жизни поэта современники давали исключительно положительные отзывы о его стихах. Названы причины, почему долгое время Нгуен Тонг Куай находился в тени более известных поэтов, дана оценка его заслуг в развитии литературы, сохранении вьетнамской поэтической традиции. Особое внимание в статье уделено вкладу поэта в утверждение национального духа во вьетнамской литературе благодаря произведениям, написанным на тьыноме (chữ Nôm) с использованием традиционной вьетнамской поэтической формы лукбат (lục bát). Приведены переводы так называемых посольских стихов и стихов на историческую тему Нгуен Тонг Куая, сделанные автором статьи.
