The analysis of the early development of Visual Anthropology, as well as the manner in which the discipline is structured and taught, must be situated within the specific historical and social contexts of each individual country. Accordingly, Visual Anthropology in the Soviet Union is no exception. It is therefore necessary to examine the current state of Visual Anthropology in Russia through the historical context of pre-Soviet Imperial Russia, the Soviet Union (1922–1991), and the Russian Federation (since 1991). In doing so, it becomes evident that Visual Anthropology in the Russian context has undergone distinct phases of development. A thorough understanding of these phases enables us to accurately identify and critically assess the modalities and extent of influence exerted by Visual Anthropology during both the Soviet and post-Soviet periods on the discipline of Anthropology in Vietnam. This article seeks to elucidate the developmental trajectories of Visual Anthropology in Russia across these historical periods and subsequently to analyse selected aspects of its influence on Vietnamese Anthropology.</p>
Данная статья направлена на выяснение траекторий развития визуальной антропологии в России на протяжении этих исторических периодов и последующий анализ отдельных аспектов её влияния на вьетнамскую антропологию.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>visual anthropology</kwd><kwd>Soviet school</kwd><kwd>cinematograph</kwd><kwd>history</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Визуальная антропология</kwd><kwd>Советская школа</kwd><kwd>кинематограф</kwd><kwd>история</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><award-group><funding-source><institution-wrap><institution xml:lang="en">VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi</institution></institution-wrap><institution-wrap><institution xml:lang="ru">Университет общественных и гуманитарных наук ХГУ</institution></institution-wrap></funding-source><award-id>USSH.2025.09</award-id></award-group></funding-group></article-meta><fn-group><fn xml:lang="en"><p>1 This research paper is solely funded by VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi, under project number USSH.2025.09.</p></fn><fn xml:lang="ru"><p>2 Данная исследовательская работа профинансирована исключительно Университетом общественных и гуманитарных наук ХГУ в рамках проекта USSH.2025.09.</p></fn></fn-group></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Alexandrov E.
